Odisha prefers non-veg to veg food

BHUBANESWAR: The majority of people in Odisha prefer non-vegetarian food to vegetarian. According to a study, the average urban family spends about 38 per cent of their total income on food, about 8.7 per cent of which is non-vegetarian against the national average of 7.25 per cent.

Ganesh lords it over exhibition in Bhubaneswar

Janmashtami celebrated with traditional fervour

Janmashtami festival, which marks the birthday of Lord Krishna, is being celebrated with traditional fervour.

Nandankanan to get four lions and many zebras from Israel

Nandankanan will soon get four lions and as many zebras from the Zoological Centre in Tel Aviv (Israel). The state government has given its go-ahead to the plan.


Official sources said the Israel zoo has agreed to give away two pairs of African lions and four zebras. Nandankanan has one zebra and two Asiatic and six hybrid lions.
